Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a type of therapy based on attachment and communication theories. IPT is designed to help people address current concerns and improve interpersonal relationships. In its true form, like many others, it is provided as a time-limited treatment which invites the clinician to choose a target from one of the four following areas.
1. Conflict in relationships that is a source of tension and distress.
2. Life changes, such as job loss or the birth of a child, that affect people's feelings about themselves and others.
3. Grief and loss.
4. Difficulties in starting or sustaining relationships.
As you may determine, IPT is a versatile treatment and one of which I tend to pull from when needed.
